Root cause and edits
Root cause, recommended fix and edits
Reading an issue's cause, applying the recommended fix and correcting product fields in Catalogtopia.
1. Cause
For Shopify sources, the 'Cause' section of an issue says how the field arrives from the source: empty at the source, an invalid value at the source, or a field Catalogtopia does not carry yet. Today this is done for the category, category attributes, description, image and title rules.
No cause is shown for XML and CSV feed sources.
2. Recommended fix
Every issue's 'Recommended fix' says what to do and who needs to act: 'Needs a change at the source' or 'On us'. The advice is the same for all products in the issue.
3. Correcting fields in Catalogtopia
On the product page you can correct the title, description and category, and upload a photo for the product (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB). You can correct the price and sale price of variants.
- Your corrections are used in Catalogtopia instead of the source value; the source is not changed.
- The next analysis re-evaluates the product with the corrected value.
- 'Use the source value' undoes a correction.
Writing changes to Shopify does not exist in the web app; automatic fixes are planned.
